Introduction

DMC West Indian International Tours, the Caribbean’s leading DMC conference planner (organizer) and events specialist for incentive travel and conventions. A preferred destination management company and supplier used by international conference organisers worldwide.

A group of islands in the Tropics, that most people dream of visiting at least once. The Caribbean are the place to be for year-round sunshine, beautiful beaches with white sands and clear blue waters, and spectacular all-inclusive hotel-resorts. But there is of course more than only beaches and relaxation, as there are many adventurous thrills to find in the Caribbean: you can go zip lining, trekking, kitesurfing, sailing, scuba diving, or even diving with turtles.

The Caribbean can be divided into the Greater Antilles, i.e. Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and the Cayman Islands; the Lucayan Archipelago, i.e. the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands; and the Lesser Antilles, i.e. the smaller islands on the east side. To the west and south, there are also some smaller islands that are not part of the Caribbean, these belong to certain Central and South American countries.

Destinations

Greater Antilles

Cuba: The largest Caribbean island is mostly famous for its political and economic history. But this marvellous country has much more to offer: beautiful beaches and coral reefs, cities where time stood still long ago, abandoned coffee plantations, cobbled streets and pastel coloured houses, ruins of over 70 sugar mills, and of course its stunning old timer cars.
Dominican Republic: Located on the eastern two-thirds of the island Hispaniola, this country is one of the Caribbean’s most geographically diverse ones, with mountains on one side, a jungle in the middle, and a long beach on the other side. This is where you will find both the Caribbean’s tallest mountain, Pico Duarte, and the Caribbean’s largest lake, Lake Enriquillo, which makes it the perfect place for adventurers and nature lovers. The Dominican Republic is the most visited country of the Caribbean. In its capital, Santo Domingo, you can find the first cathedral, castle, monastery, and fortress built in the Americas. Famous for its discovery in 1492 by Christopher Columbus, the country is filled with museums, historical monuments and cultural experiences. It is also the n° 1 destination of the Caribbean and Latin America for golf courses.
Haiti: The western one-third of the island Hispaniola. Though it has a difficult past, the country offers a lot of hidden gems for tourists: beautiful beaches, waterfalls and mountains fill the landscape. The largest fort of the Americas, the Citadelle La Ferriere, is Haiti’s main attraction. It is located on top of a mountain, where you can enjoy the most stunning view over Haiti. At the bottom of said mountain, you will find the ruins of the Sans Souci castle. Most of the shores of Haiti have some beautiful cliffs or natural harbours, and almost all of them have stunning coral reefs.
Jamaica: The birth country of Bob Marley is of course filled with music. But the island has much more to offer: beautiful beaches, breath-taking waterfalls, and lots of relaxation. Adventurers can test their limits at the Mystic Mountain in Ocho Rios, where you can bobsled, zipline, or take the waterslide to discover the beauty of the country, while nature lovers should visit the Blue Mountains, which are known for their coffee beans, rivers, trails and marvellous waterfalls. Jamaica really has something to offer for anyone.
Puerto Rico: This tropical island is a Commonwealth of the United States, and has the only tropical rainforest in the US, called El Yunque. In the National Wildlife Refuge, you will find the salt flats, where you can get a panoramic view of the area. The Old City of San Juan will let you know everything you want to know about the island’s history and architecture. The Castillo San Felipe del Morro, a 400 years old fortress, will offer you stunning views over the San Juan Bay. On the other side, you can find the Castillo San Cristóbal, a 225 years old fortress with a preserved chapel and soldiers’ living quarters, that is lesser known by tourists. Of course this island is also the place to be for water sports, sunbathing and long walks along the beach.
Cayman Islands: A self-governing British Overseas Territory, consisting of the islands Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, and Cayman Brac. Some of its main attractions are the Seven Mile Beach, with lots of hotels, resorts, and public beach bars; Stingray City, where you can swim with stingrays; the Observation Tower, with 360 degrees views over Grand Cayman; Boatswain’s Beach, the world’s only commercial Green Sea Turtle farm; or the various shipwrecks around the shores.

Lucayan Archipelago

Bahamas: Consisting of hundreds of islands, the Bahamas are a Commonwealth of Great Britain. The islands are filled with marvellous beaches, mangroves, reefs, forests, historic towns, casinos, exotic adventures, and you can even swim with pigs. Worth a stop are the Pompey Museum of Slavery and Emancipation, Paradise Island, the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas, the Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve, Lucayan National Park, and Thunderball Grotto, which is an underwater cave system filled with exotic marine life, coral reefs and crystal clear water.
Turks and Caicos Islands: A British Overseas Territory consisting of 40 islands and cays. It has some of the world’s most spectacular coral reefs. The island Providenciales is the most well known and is the centre of the tourism industry. The majority of vegetation consists of tropical dry forest and mangrove wetlands. It is the place to be to go sunbathing, scuba diving, snorkelling, sailing, parasailing, fishing, golfing, shopping, hiking, or cycling. Each island has its own activities to offer, which makes all of them worth a visit.

Lesser Antilles: There are many islands in the Lesser Antilles, which can be divided into three groups: the Leeward Islands, which are Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Montserrat, Saba, Saint-Barthélemy, Sint Eustatius, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Martin, and the U.S. Virgin Islands; the Windward Islands, which are Barbados, Grenada, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago; and the ABC Islands, which are Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao.
