Dolomites

The Dolomites are a mountain range in north eastern Italy, nearly equally shared between the provinces of South Tyrol, Belluno and Trentino. They form a part of the Alps and are a Unesco World Heritage Site.

The name comes from the rock Dolomite, which was named after the French mineralogist de Dolomieu who was the first to study the rock in the 18th century.
